FM 546 / CR 400 Corridor Study – Phase I East

The Farm-to-Market (FM) 546/County Road (CR) 400 project is an alignment study for a six-lane major thoroughfare from the intersection of Airport Drive and FM 546 in McKinney, Texas, to U.S. 380 at Boorman Lane in Princeton, Texas. The corridor was established in the 2014 Update of the Collin County Mobility Plan as part of improving future mobility across central Collin County. The study was divided into two parts because the work required in the segments is substantially different, with the eastern segment having much of the alignment already set. The eastern segment (Phase I) spans across City of Lowry Crossing and City Princeton city limits and ETJs, from Bridgefarmer Road to U.S. 380. FM 546/CR 400 Corridor Study – Phase I East has been conducted in collaboration with City of Lowry Crossing and City of Princeton. The preferred alignment for the eastern segment was approved at a regular session of the Collin County Commissioners Court on June 7, 2021 in McKinney, Texas.

The western segment (FM 546 Extension Phase II) is located within the City of McKinney and City of Lowry Crossing city limits and ETJ. The western segment’s (Phase II) project limits are from Airport Drive to CR 393 and is a partnership between Collin County and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) with CSJ Numbers 1013-01-040 and 1010-03-002. For more information on the western segment, please visit   FM 546 Extension Phase II.

As of October 2024, construction plans are in progress. The corridor located south of City of Lowry Crossing will connect the recently constructed Myrick Lane to FM 546. The portion of the corridor from FM 982 to US 380 serves as an extension of Boorman Lane. Right of document preparation and acquisition progress is ongoing.
